Ackroyd’s Scottish Bakery

Ackroyd’s Scottish Bakery

Since 1949, Ackroyd’s Scottish Bakery has been serving up baked delights that will make your mouth water whether you’re from the United States or Scotland. You can order from their menu online, so if you don’t live in the area but are still craving their goodies, you are in luck. Some of their most popular items (and the best reviewed) are those that are from the homeland in their name: meat pies. They’ve got pork pie, shepherd’s pie, sausage rolls, chicken curry pies, steak pie and steak & kidney pie. Also try a pasty, in flavors like: beef, chicken, pizza, or steak & mushroom.

They also sell straight-up meat if you’re looking for protein for that evening’s dinner. Peameal bacon, Haggis, mealie pudding, sliced sausage, and beef bangers are just some of their options.

If you’re looking for something a little on the sweeter side, their menu is packed with that, too. From the semi-sweet tea cakes and tarts in flavors such as walnut, raspberry, shortbread, date, butter, lemon, swiss, or nut, to sweet enough for breakfast scones like golden raisin, blueberry, or cranberry-orange, you’ll find something delectable to sink your teeth into. Come prepared to grab-pay-and-go, as they don’t offer seating for you to eat their. Their goodies are best enjoyed warm, so cross your fingers and hope you have the patience to heat it up in the microwave or oven.

Wolf’s Bakery Review

Wolf’s Bakery

You’ll be howling in delight when you sink your teeth into the delicious goodies that the chefs at Wolf’s Bakery cook up. Treat yourself to Double Chocolate Muffins, regular or mini-size cannolis, limited time or seasonal items like plum coffee cake, pumpkin muffins, Eggnog or Christmas tree coffee cake, cookies decorated as baseballs (perfect for that World Series party or Little League practice), or a red velvet cupcake. Plus, don’t miss out on the soda bread, danishes, sweet rolls, butter cookies, taffy apple coffee cake, angel food cake with cherry buttercream frosting, chocolate-frosted cake donuts, cinnamon roll donuts – anything sweet you need to ply the office staff, you can find it here.

What Wolf’s is best known for, however, is their lemon fluff. You’ll huff and you’ll puff and you’ll inhale it all in one bite. You can get the lemon fluff however you’d like: an individual fluff cup, to a 4 tier wedding cake. You can even get it as a specialty during the seasons, with  Lime Fluff for St. Patrick’s Day and Orange Fluff in the fall. Get it as a small birthday cake or a large sheet cake. However you fluff, you’ll eat it by the forkful.

Nathaniel Reid Bakery Review

Nathaniel Reid Bakery Photo

There isn’t much seating at this bakery, but that’s alright, because whatever you buy will probably be devoured as soon as you have one taste of it. You could stand in line and point randomly at any item in the case of goodies and end up with something scrumptious to eat. Treat your taste buds to items like a chicken salad croissant sandwich, a chocolate mousse cake, a chocolate chip pecan cookie, macarons in a variety of flavors (chocolate ganache, raspberry, salted caramel, wild berry, lemon, butterscotch), a lemon and lime tart, shortbread, a vanilla bean crème brulée, a bacon gruyere quiche, a chocolate almond croissant, Polynesia banana passion fruit mousse, or a seasonal item, like pistachio cake or spiced pumpkin bundt cake.

Even when the line is long, service moves quickly, and you’re likely to meet Chef Reid himself, who trained in New York and Paris but serves up his sweet treats in a small town in Missouri. But it won’t feel like Missouri, because the pastries at this French bakery are just that good. Plus, make any event mouthwatering with their catering, either by ordering their sandwiches, macarons, or cakes, which come in flavors like “Chocolate Cake Vanilla Bean Mousse,” “Fresh Raspberries,” “Lady Finger Cake Caramel Mousse,” and “Salted Caramel Ganache,” to name a few.

Lulu’s Bakery and Cafe

Photos for Lulu’s Bakery & Cafe

Come with an appetite, because everything at Lulu’s is Texas-size in portion. And if you’ve heard of Lulu’s for one thing, it’s for their amazing cinnamon rolls, which were amazing enough (and large and cheap enough, at three pounds and only $11!) to be featured on the Food Network, or for their chicken fried steak, which can weigh in at 21 ounces (if you get the “Texas Ranger”) and literally fills a pizza pan. Get ready for your waistband to expand when you see the selection Lulu’s has for you to try — and 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whenever you’ve got a craving, Lulu’s can satisfy it.

If you’re going in for something other than cinnamon rolls or chicken fried steak, don’t worry — Lulu’s has more than just that. In fact, their breakfast tacos might be the best item on their breakfast menu, besides their perfect-made-to-order eggs and their astoundingly thick and fluffy pancakes. But be prepared — because they are cheap and open ‘round-the-clock, you might encounter a couple times when items are sold out or unavailable. But no worries! There are enough items for you to choose from that there should be something for you to partake in. And if you can’t find anything you’d like, you can always fill up with a yummy, legendary cinnamon roll!

Cramer’s Bakery – All You Need To Know

Cramer Bakery

Imagine a wedding cake that’s reminiscent of the Taj Mahal because it’s shaped and colored similarly. Or icing roses that look real enough to have thorns that prick. Or one that looks like a birch tree with you and your spouse’s initials carved into it. Or, forget weddings for a moment, and think about cakes for parties: one cake made to look like R2D2, another to look like a clock for New Year’s or retirement, another that’s Mary Poppins-themed with umbrellas and silhouettes, or one cake that looks like a poker chip. The possibilities are endless for cakes that are so clever and cute that you almost won’t want to cut into them. But, you will cut into them, because inside, there are flavors like vanilla cake with cannoli cream filling and white buttercream icing. Isn’t your mouth just watering thinking about that?

As for other goodies, Cramer’s does donuts, tarts, croissants, brownies, elephant ears, and more. And if you come in on Mondays, you might find out the hard way that nothing is getting made fresh that day, but it will be made up by the fact that anything they had left over from the day before is 50% off!

Carlo’s Bakery Orlando

Your eyes may be bigger than your stomach when you get to Carlo’s in Orlando because the goodies are arranged so nicely. Instead of walking in for just a cannoli, you might walk out with a dozen cannolis of different flavors, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and a tummy full of goodies. Because it’s located in a mall, expect mall traffic as well as tourist traffic, attracted by the Carlo’s chain that made it’s way to stardom on Cake Boss (though that branch is in New Jersey.)

But you will definitely get a Cake Boss vibe at the store, which is covered in photos of Buddy and his family to give it an original-bakery feel. While you’re waiting in line, you can peek into the back to watch them make the delectable delights and get your mouth watering for all the sweets, like Salted Caramel cupcakes, chocolate cannolis, strawberry cheesecake, buttery croissants, tiramisu, lobster tails, carrot cupcakes, double chocolate chip cookies, and Napoleons. Though it may be a little pricier for the brand, and the wait may be a little longer because of the fame, all your taste buds will thank you for the chance to taste the creations they whip up here.

Magee’s Bakery – All You Need To Know

o

Magee’s has been family owned since 1956, which means they’ve been cooking up goodies for more than 60 years, so you know they’ve perfected their recipe by now. While they are a teensy bit on the pricey side, their portion sizes are worth it, as is the flavor.

Let’s say you’ve got the sweetest of sweet teeth. What does Magee’s have for you? How about their chocolate frosting that’s almost sickly sweet? Or a cream horn that may be the best in the state?
But what are you going to eat for breakfast, since you’ve got dessert covered? How about their scrumptious breakfast sandwiches and their freshly squeezed orange juice?

One thing is for sure: there are too many must-try options at Magee’s to try them all in one visit. Their donuts are something to rave about, and when they are freshly glazed, your mouth will water just looking at them. Or sink your teeth into a buttery croissant, paired with eggs that are perfectly made to order.

Best of all? If you truly don’t feel like getting in the car to go get a scrumptious anything from Magee’s, you can order online. Talk about sweet.
